Pu Xi Grade 2: Health Week

Week 2 (2.17-2.21) was second-graders’ Health Week! Each day, every class learned more about healthy eating and living a healthy lifestyle.

On Monday all students watched a short health video and as a class listed healthy snacks to bring to bring to school.

For Tuesday’s activity the teachers showed the class how to be healthy mentally by meditating and playing relaxing music, turning the lights low, and reading to them a relaxing message. This really helped calmed them down and showed them how to keep their emotions in check!

On Wednesday the teachers talked more about what a healthy plate should look like. Each student got to draw the four main nutritious food items that should be included in their meal on their plate. Every student got very creative with their drawings of fruit, protein, vegetables, and grains!

On Thursday the kids got to learn Zumba dance moves taught by Ms. Jeanne and Ms. Davies during PG class! All of Grade 2 loved exercising and dancing to the music together outside and getting out some energy! Afterwards, they got their own taste of homemade apple juice!

Friday was the most delicious day because all the kids brought one healthy snack to share with his/her classmates, such as fresh fruit, vegetable sandwich, nuts, etc. Health food can also be delicious!

The kids have learned a lot about what it means to be healthy person in the health week and hope them put these tips to use!
