Career Day at SHSID
Career Day at SHSID
On the afternoon of Dec. 14th, 2013, Career Day was held in the Annex of Xianmian Building. This activity was aimed at students from grades 9-12. After taking a survey among students, we invited guests from three fields: self-employment, business consulting, and law. The guest speakers shared information about their personal growth and career development to help students form a better idea of their future development.
Mr. Jack Lin from Qianxiang Tuxedo Company gave a speech entitled “Change Yourself.” He shared why he walked out from a Fortune 500 company and chose to start his own business. Right now, he is working on getting his company listed on a public stock market.
Mr. George Bradt, a manager from one of the Big Four accounting firms, participated in a chat with the hostess. He shared information about his interesting work projects and also presented students with ideas about how to prepare for college applications. In addition, being an alumnus from Harvard College, he also shared his college experience with the audience.
Our last speaker, Mr. Alex Li, is working as legal director in Yum! Brands, China. His topic was “My Path to University of California at Davis.” Mr. Li started with a self-introduction in which he vividly shared experiences from his overseas study and life at UC Davis, and he reminded students of the dos and don’ts in the US. He also talked about how to become a lawyer and what students can do apart from being a lawyer.
After these lectures, students are eager to get more information on future development and start to work out their future plans as early as possible.
