Pudong G4: Charity Fair

The 2013 Charity Fair at Pudong campus was held on November 29th, and it turned out to be a big success. About 26,096 RMB was raised this year, which is 5,000 RMB more than last year. The money will be donated to kids in need of operations.

Pudong G4 watched a video that was shot by teachers who went to the Shanghai Healing Home for a visit. Those kids had big smiles on their faces. Some of them don’t have enough money to get operations or go to school. G4 students were touched by what they saw, and they really want to help them and turn the charity fair into a more meaningful event.

On Nov. 29th, the charity fair started at 12:50 PM. G4 students bought tokens during lunch and recess, and the groups set up their shops with interesting advertisements. They made attractive posters and sold interesting items. One ice-cream shop was extremely popular among the students. Some parents came to help their kids. They brought noodles and delicious, homemade cookies. Teachers also got involved in the charity fair. They arranged a shop called “Pie Shop.” Students were able to buy a vote for 5 RMB, and then they could use it to vote for the teacher at whom they wanted to throw a pie. The teacher who got the most votes then chose a student to throw the pie. Many students got involved in this activity because they regarded this as a rare and appealing opportunity.

G4 students and parents actively took part in the charity fair, and everyone wanted to raise more money and so that his or her shop would be listed among the top five shops. The results will be shown in a couple of days, after the huge number of tokens has been counted.
