Pudong G5—the Ping Pang Competition
Pudong G5—the Ping Pang Competition
It is a tradition for Pudong fifth grade students to have a grade-wide competition every month during the lunch break. Since the start of the school year, they have had the puzzle competition, connect-five chess game, and long-rope jumping. In April, they had the Ping Pong competition.
Everybody in the fifth grade participated in the lunch break activity. Before the competition, students in class 5(1) and 5(2) were assigned numbers and matched together. The format is similar to a bracket-style elimination event. After three competitive rounds, the winners emerged.
Everybody showed a great performance and awesome enthusiasm from the start. Some students even prepared their own equipment to better their chances! After two rounds, one student from 5(1) and two students from 5(2) entered the final round. The last game between Stanford and Patrick was so exciting that almost everyone from the fifth grade gathered around to cheer for them.
Finally, Stanford from 5(2) won the game by only two points, taking gold, and Patrick took second. Joyce, a girl from 5(1), won the third place.
The Ping Pong competition is over, and students have already started looking forward to next month’s challenge — the 24-point competition. Who will be the next winner? We’re all wondering…
