Junior Section Spelling Bee

After several weeks of preparations, the top 15 of all 5-8^thgrades rose into a frenzy of word memorizing and preparations. After an hour long live second round, the spelling bee left us all on the edge of our seats, and cheering. Winning with the word ‘salaam’, a salutation or ceremonial greeting in the East, and ‘Bolshevik’ which many students may remember from their geography and history lessons, Christine Huang snagged first place, leaving Tiffany Cai and Hannah Shui with 2^ndand 3^rdplace, respectively. Let us all congratulate to the top three contestants, who will be competing with other top three contestants from other schools from Shanghai and Beijing. The top competitors from Shanghai and Beijing will represent China to take part in the international Scripps’s Spelling Bee competition in Washington D.C. Let us all wish them luck in their upcoming competition! We are proud of you !
