Puxi Campus G2 | STEAM WEEK: Roller Coaster Adventure
This week, Puxi Grade Two welcomed STEAM Week. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Science, and encourages students to incorporate interdisciplinary skills. Our second graders became mad scientists, challenging themselves to design and build a thrilling roller coaster.
In the bustling 2nd grade classrooms, excitement filled the air as students embarked on a journey into the world of engineering during their STEAM week. With the challenge set, these young minds were tasked with designing and constructing their very own roller coasters.
The week kicked off with boundless imagination as students brainstormed and sketched out their wildest roller coaster designs. From loops to twists and turns, creativity knew no bounds. But the magic didn't stop at just ideas; it was time to bring those visions to life.
Through a multidisciplinary approach, students delved into the realms of science, mathematics, and engineering, applying principles learned in each subject to their roller coaster designs. With pencils, rulers, and plenty of cardboard, they transformed their concepts into tangible models, refining their structures with each iteration.
As the week progressed, anticipation mounted for the ultimate test: marble runs. With their roller coasters poised and ready, students eagerly released marbles to navigate the twists and turns of their creations. Cheers erupted as marbles raced through loops and soared down steep drops, showcasing the ingenuity and precision behind each design.
But beyond the thrill of the marble runs lay a deeper lesson. STEAM week not only ignited a passion for engineering but also fostered collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among students. Through trial and error, they learned the value of perseverance and the joy of seeing their ideas come to life.
For both students and educators alike, STEAM week was a resounding success. It was a testament to the power of hands-on learning and the boundless potential of young minds. As the week came to a close, smiles abounded, and memories were made, proving that the journey from imagination to creation is indeed a roller coaster of delight.
