Puxi Campus Grade 6: Youth Development Class — Communication Builds Friendship Bridges
As Grade 6 students bid farewell to their familiar primary school environment and step into middle school, they carry a mix of naivety and anticipation. At this new starting point, building a close and warm class community is especially important. Not only does it help students adapt quickly to their new surroundings, but it also ensures that every member feels the warmth and sense of belonging from the collective.
To strengthen class cohesion, the teachers have carefully designed a series of interactive activities focused on communication—a foundational skill for building good interpersonal relationships. During this week's Youth Development Class, students were taught "secrets" to establishing positive relationships through a range of fun and engaging games. Amidst laughter and joy, the students bridged gaps and experienced the power and pleasure of teamwork.
In the second part of the course—"Communication and Friendship"—teachers used a clever analogy, comparing friendship to a delicious soup. Students brainstormed what ingredients were essential to this soup. Trust, humor, communication, respect, mutual reliance: it became clear that communication plays a crucial role, serving as a bridge connecting hearts and a bond maintaining friendships.
Just as the core purpose of building a class community is to allow everyone the chance to speak and connect with each other, making them feel more comfortable and safe in the community, the Grade 6 students are gradually finding their place in this atmosphere. They are learning to listen and express themselves, collectively painting the canvas of their youth.
