Exploring Interests, Motivating Potential: Grade 10 m3 Course Showcase
This semester, SHSID has launched a diverse range of m3 courses, spanning across the fields of arts, science, technology, humanities, and physical areas of study. These programs aim to help every student discover their interest, develop individual strengths, and lay a solid foundation for future success in STEAM competitions and other academic activities.
In the Vocal Training and Art Song Performance course, students have improved their musical literacy and expressive abilities through systematic voice training and stage practice. Many students experienced solo and choral performances for the first time, gaining confidence and a sense of achievement through repeated rehearsals.
Engineering-focused courses such as GT-Racing and FTC/FRC robotics attracted a group of students passionate about mechanical design. By engaging in robot structure building and programming, they honed their problem-solving skills through teamwork, preparing themselves for future innovation and technology competitions.
In response to the challenges of the digital era, the Financial Literacy course helps students understand financial logic and investment thinking. Through data analysis and statistical methods, students explored hidden issues in corporate financial statements, enhancing their ability to make informed economic decisions in real-life scenarios. The Social Media and Youth Culture course takes a sociological approach to analyzing online phenomena and popular trends, strengthening students’ media literacy and critical thinking.
The 3D Printing and Design course integrates technology with art, guiding students through the entire creative process—from conceptualization to modeling and final printing—stimulating spatial imagination and creativity. Courses such as Ancient Ceramic Conservation and Restoration and Porcelain Glaze and Chemistry creatively combine chemistry knowledge with traditional ceramic craftsmanship. Students gain hands-on experience understanding glaze composition and firing principles, while also developing an appreciation for cultural heritage and a sense of historical responsibility.
Meanwhile, the Game Development Basics with Unity course teaches students how to create small games using the Unity engine, sharpening their logical thinking and digital skills. As a traditional physical activity, the Dragon Dance course not only improves students' coordination and teamwork but also brings new vitality to this conventional cultural practice.
Through a year of exploration and learning within the m3 program, we have witnessed students becoming more actively engaged in class, willing to take on challenges, and beginning to plan their academic goals and future development paths. Shortly, we look forward to seeing even more students find their unique growth trajectories under the guidance of the m3 curriculum, stepping onto broader stages with curiosity, creativity, and strong determination. SHSID will continue to provide resources and build platforms to support students in showcasing their talents and excelling in various competitions and performances.
