Pudong Campus: After-School Clubs: Exploring, Creating, and Growing Beyond the Classroom

October 12, 2026

The after-school hours at Pudong Campus are filled with renewed energy this semester. A diverse range of clubs are  available for students in Grades 1–5, spanning basketball, baseball, ballet, musical theatre, art, scientific exploration, STEAM, Micro: Bit, Coding & 3D Printing, and the Beidou Dream Navigation Club for Grades 3–5. With opportunities tailored to all different ages and interests, students can discover their passions, learn through hands-on experiences, and grow through collaboration.

01 Sports & Athletics: Moving with Energy, Growing with Resilience

The Basketball and Baseball Clubs provide energetic spaces for students to move, practice, and connect. Open to Grades 1–5, the Basketball Club allows students to develop fundamental skills and teamwork through running, passing, and shooting. The Baseball Club, likewise, welcomes students across the primary grades, helping them experience the value of rules, cooperation, and perseverance through practice and play. Every drop of sweat becomes part of a journey toward stronger focus, teamwork, and resilience.

02 Science & Innovation: Discovering Through Hands-on Exploration

Science and innovation clubs open a door to the world of discovery. The Scientific Exploring Club encourages students in Grades 3–4 to observe, question, experiment, and investigate phenomena around them. The STEAM Club introduces Grades 1–2 students to science and creativity through engaging projects. For students in Grades 3–5, the Micro: Bit and Coding & 3D Printing Clubs offer opportunities to explore programming, digital technology, and creative design, turning ideas into tangible creations through hands-on practice.

03 Beidou Dream Navigation: From the Stars to Hands-on Innovation

This semester, Pudong Campus introduced Beidou Dream Navigation, a special program for students in Grades 3–5. Centered on China's BeiDou Navigation Satellite System, the course uses hands-on practice and project-based exploration to guide students from the fundamentals of positioning and navigation to satellite design, constellation networking, and the challenges of the space environment. Through these experiences, students discover the science behind Beidou and its connections to everyday life.

Students will simulate satellite positioning through an exciting treasure-hunt activity, make water clocks to investigate the principles of timekeeping, and assemble radio transmission devices to explore factors affecting signal transmission. They will also build BeiDou satellite models and construct constellation models incorporating MEO, IGSO, and GEO orbits, discovering how individual satellites work together as a system.

The exploration continues beyond models and experiments. Students will draw campus maps using tracing, field measurement, and BeiDou terminals, then face simulated space challenges such as power loss in the Earth's shadow, meteor impacts, extreme temperature changes, and electrostatic discharge. They will design their own satellite protection strategies and ultimately develop a creative technology project—a Beidou-based safety monitoring system for electric bicycles—before presenting and defending their ideas.

From a treasure hunt to a self-built “satellite,” from mapping the campus to designing a technology solution for the future, Beidou Dream Navigation transforms abstract scientific concepts into experiences that students can see, build, test, and create. Through each challenge, students learn to ask questions, analyze problems, and develop solutions—turning curiosity into a starting point for exploring the world.

04 Arts & Humanities: Expressing Creativity Through Movement and Music

Arts clubs offer students space to express themselves and experience the joy of artistic creation. The Ballet Club welcomes students in Grades 1–5, exploring movement and expression through music. The Musical Club for Grades 3–5 brings together singing, acting, and stage practice, allowing students to experience the magic of theatre through collaborative rehearsals. For Grades 1–2, Art Attack provides an open creative space where imagination can take shape through colors, materials, and artwork.

The diverse after-school clubs at Pudong Campus create a broader space for students to grow. Sports bring energy, arts provide avenues for expression, technology sparks curiosity, and hands-on experiences inspire creativity. In programs such as Beidou Dream Navigation, students are not simply acquiring knowledge—they are learning to observe, think, collaborate, and create through authentic tasks and challenges.

May every run, creation, experiment, and bold idea become a small star along each child's journey of growth. We look forward to seeing students remain curious, embrace new challenges, discover their passions through interests, and meet a stronger version of themselves through hands-on exploration.
