Grade 12: University Fair Empowers Students to Launch Their Application Season

September 18, 2026

At noon on September 16, the 2026 Fall College Fair was held in the B1 of the Zhongxing Building. University representatives from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong SAR, China, and other countries and regions came to Shanghai High School International Division and, with the assistance of campus student guides, introduced their schools' features and application policies to students and teachers. Booths for the various universities were surrounded by students from different grades, who consulted admissions officers about application requirements, academic program offerings, and a range of other questions, while also gaining a further understanding of each university's campus environment and learning resources.

After the midday college fair, Grade 12 students moved on to the various themed activities of Senior Orientation. Based on their individual intentions, students signed up in advance for the afternoon activity sessions, which covered information sessions for universities in different regions, mock interviews, and mock admissions, among other specialized content. At the information sessions, university representatives and admissions officers focused on 2027 admissions policies, various application requirements, strengths of academic disciplines and majors, and admission outcomes, addressing students' questions in a more targeted manner. The rich and comprehensive information helped students make better choices for their applications.

In the mock interview segment, experienced teachers, drawing on the content and characteristics of U.S. university interviews, asked students to share their personal interests and learning experiences, demonstrate mature thinking, and present their personal plans and academic aspirations. Although the interview process lasted not long, students were already able to experience the tension of a one-on-one interview, practice thinking on their feet and expressing themselves, and do their best to highlight their strengths and talents.

In the mock admissions activity, students took on the role of "admissions officers." Under the guidance of college counselors, they read mock applicant materials and discussed the degree of fit for each applicant. In the process of carefully comparing the backgrounds and characteristics of different application cases, students were better able to appreciate the various factors that universities may consider when making admissions decisions.

Through this series of rich activities, students obtained more direct and more specific information about university applications, laying a solid foundation for smoothly embarking on their college applications and striving for their dream schools.
