Puxi Campus G7: All Hands on One Rope, All Hearts in High Spirits — The Grade 7 Tug of War
To strengthen teamwork and further promote the spirit of sport, Grade 7 students held a lively tug of war on the afternoon of October 15, organized by their teachers. The contest ran through three rounds, with each class fielding ten boys and ten girls in a knockout format — only the winners advanced.
The bracket was decided by draw, adding a touch of suspense to the occasion. One class found itself up against last year's champions in the very first round, and took it in stride: "Win, and we're the champions; lose, and we're still runners up." Behind the jest, however, palms were being rubbed and fists clenched in full fighting spirit.
The atmosphere on the field was electric. Beyond the players straining with all their might, homeroom teachers, international teachers and student spectators clenched their fists, pumped their arms, and roared their cheers from the bottom of their lungs — some even leapt into the air, itching to join the fray. Between evenly matched teams, the contest hung in the balance, with victory at times decided by a hair's breadth, while ASB members wove along the sidelines, keeping order, recording results, and quietly doing their part.
The two periods of YD (Youth Development) class drew to a close amid waves of cheering. Who took the title mattered little. In hoarse voices, reddened palms and gasping breaths, every student came away with the thrill of the fight, the grit to hold on, and the pride of battling for their class. On and off the field, everyone pulled in the same direction, each contributing in their own way. The two ends of the rope tied a whole class's eyes and heartbeats into one — the wordless chemistry of "pulling together." And that taut, straining rope added the most powerful, fiery stroke of youthful color to Sports Week.
