Grades 11-12: The 2026 Career Day

October 30, 2026

To better help high school students connect with the real workplace and broaden their international horizons, SHSID organized a Career Day on the afternoon of October 28 for students in Grades 11 and 12. Professionals from fields such as medicine, finance, biology, art, and culture were invited to the school to share their professional expertise.

Each session consisted of two parts: a guest presentation and an interactive Q&A. The guests offered more than practical takeaways; they also reflected on their career experiences and career planning. A guest from the arts noted that art is never merely a career option, but also a way of seeing the world. Even if students do not pursue art professionally in the future, their sensitivity to beauty will remain with them throughout life. A guest from medicine looked back on his own path, sketching the present of medicine while looking toward its future. A guest from finance “took banking apart” for the audience—its functions, its categories, and a real day inside and outside the bank counter—and generously shared a “4C” toolkit for career success. The surveyor’s story began with the map on everyone’s phone: behind every routine location and navigation request lies generations of surveyors’ journeys across mountains and seas.

During the Q&A sessions, students eagerly asked questions based on the guests’ sharing. Some asked how the guests had embarked on their career paths; some asked what preparations they should make in high school if they hoped to enter related fields in the future; and others wanted to know about the challenges and rewards of their actual work. Their questions reflected both practical concerns about career choices and deeper reflections on future development. The guests responded warmly one by one, and their sincere and specific answers drew bursts of applause, creating a lively atmosphere.

The two-class-period Career Day was packed with information and highly efficient. Students said they had benefited greatly, catching a glimpse of future professional life through these vivid individual stories. For high school students, the value of Career Day lies in providing a channel to learn about industries and experience real working environments, helping them understand the daily content, competency requirements, and development trends of different professions, reducing judgments based solely on impressions, and offering more realistic references for future university major planning.

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to all the guests who took time from their busy schedules to visit our school and share so generously. What you brought was not only industry information, but also the choices, perseverance, and passion behind real careers. Career Day will come to an end, but reflection on future careers will continue. May all students carry this inspiration forward, stay curious, and move ahead steadily.
