High School Physics Department: Online Circuit Simulation Experiment

On April 26, 2022, students in Grade 10 physics class conducted a unique online circuit simulation experiment under the guidance of their physics teachers. It was the first time that the students came into contact with circuit knowledge this semester. On the one hand, they were full of curiosity about circuits that could be seen everywhere in life. On the other hand, due to the epidemic isolation, they were unable to do experiments in the school laboratory to experience the fun of exploration and discovery. Under the leadership of Mr. Xu Zhencheng, the head of physics department, and Ms. Li Lejun, the group leader of G10 physics teachers, physics teachers from Grade 10 confirmed the solution of conducting the circuit simulation experiment online.

For students who are new to circuits, it is not easy to find a scientific, rigorous and convenient simulation platform for them. Ms. Xu Dan found several circuit simulation software, and personally tested them one by one, and finally determined the most suitable platform for students to use.

Although it was an online simulation experiment, there were no substantial safety risks, but in order to cultivate students' standard operating habits from the beginning, the teachers spent a whole class training students to operate the circuit safely.

On the day of the experiment, the students came to the online conference room of their groups early and began the experiment methodically under the leadership of the group leader. From selecting components, to building circuits, to collecting and analyzing data, the students were excited and engaged. As for the problems in the process of the experiment, they analyzed and discussed in the meeting room, expressed our opinions, all the problems were solved, and finally completed the experiment successfully.

This online experiment is a creative attempt in physics teaching during the lockdown period. It not only builds a platform for students to learn circuit knowledge, but also exercises students' data processing ability, cultivates group cooperation skills, and ensures the high efficiency and fun of online physics learning.
