Puxi Grade 1: Pinyin Hat

To help our Grade 1 native Chinese-speaking students at SHSID learn Pinyin, our Chinese teachers have had students make ‘Pinyin hats’ to motivate students in an engaging way. Every student made a ‘Pinyin hat’ to represent various syllables. Once the hats were completed, the students recited each of the Pinyin syllables in the four tones along with their teacher. After drawing and the decorating the four tones, the teachers helped the students finish making their hats. Everyone felt so proud to wear them! The Chinese teachers in grade 1 are ensuring that each of the students will soon become proficient in Pinyin.
