Puxi Grade 5:Science Recycle Project
Puxi Grade 5:Science Recycle Project
Human population has been growing exponentially for the last one hundred years. However, the resources we have on Earth are limited, thus Earth can’t support us forever if we don’t learn to recycle.
Last month, we did a recycle project instead of the monthly Science test for the Science progress report. In this recycling project, we used recycled materials, scissors, tape, glue, and some paints and markers to demonstrate the three “R”s—reuse, reduce, and recycle.
Reuse is one of the most important concepts of recycling. For example, one of my schoolmates built a horse out of used cardboards and yarn. These are typically materials that are going to be put in the trash bins. Students also made bookmarks with used cloth, and a “broomstick” with an end of used plastic bottle. All these interesting recycle projects developed by the genius students at SHSID are on display in the hall of the middle school building.
The second key concept is to reduce. We should think about how to save resources. For example, we learned to use the blank side of paper to make calculations on. We also learned to fold an airplane or paper bomb from scrap paper, rather than using a piece of new paper. Reducing the use of paper is especially important, because a lot off trees are being cut down each day to make paper. Deforestation causes poor soil quality and landslides.
We could recycle easily today. All it takes is calling the recycling people to collect recycled paper. They will bring the paper to the factories and make new paper out of it. Recycling is important and easy.
Remember everyone: reuse, reduce, and recycle. Together we can save the Earth, and bring a better life to everyone!
