Puxi Campus G8 | New Year Party
December 27th was the last day of YD class for Grade 8 students. To celebrate the imminent arrival of 2024, the teachers prepared a special day of activities and games, and even a pizza party!
The first section of the YD class began with the “Geoguessr” (a geography competition game). The rules of “Geoguessr” are to let students from every class use a screenshot of a random place to deduce the actual location of the shot. While playing the game, the students were eager to raise ideas and work together. Every class and their teachers observed the screenshots carefully and gave their own opinions. This went on and on, with the competition growing more and more exciting, and the top ten scoreboards constantly changing. Ultimately, the classes who won were 8-1,8-2 and 8-7.
Then the classes moved on to the next round of games: “Naming Colors with Pictures”, “Guessing Idioms through Images” and “Magic Chinese Characters”. The game “Naming Colors with Pictures” was divided into four difficulty levels, with each group taking turns to answer. The team with the shortest time scored the highest number of points. In “Guessing Idioms through Images”, the host used a projector to randomly display cards, and each group competed to answer for points. “Magic Chinese Characters” was also organized by groups, in which participants assembled characters based on given radicals and drawn cards. The group that completes the characters with the highest speed and accuracy wins the card, and the overall winning group is determined by the accumulated cards. The students gathered their thoughts and tried their best to think of the answers, and everybody laughed together joyously. The teachers also participated with the students, everyone immersed in the festivities commemorating the arrival of the New Year.
The most anticipated stage of the event was the pizza party. The students rushed to wash their hands and clean the classroom and sank into the wonderful tastes of pizza. The number of pizzas given to each class was decided in accordance to their performances in the class competitions, so the students ate their pizzas with pride, knowing that they earned every bit of it. In addition to the pizza, a myriad of snacks were available, prepared by both teachers and classmates. While the students ate away blissfully, the homeroom teachers played trailers of four outstanding award-winning films from the recent BEDDS Film Festival on the screen. Everyone applauded and cheered as they watched the classmates' performances in the films, praising their brilliant writing, acting, and editing skills.
Before drawing the curtain on 2023, the teachers and students spent a relaxed, enjoyable, and enriching New Year's party together. Thank you to our wonderful teachers for their hard work and effort put in to organizing this event. In the upcoming year, may all the students continue to be happy, joyful, and proactive, welcoming the new days ahead.
