2023 "Little Grass Cup": Focusing on Technology and the Humanities to Foster Professional Growth for Teachers
On the morning of December 27, 2023, the annual SHSID High School professional development event for teachers, the "Little Grass Cup," was held as scheduled. The theme of this year's event, "Technology and the Humanities," aimed to inspire teachers to delve into the integration of technology and education, thereby elevating their professional capabilities and humanistic spirit.
In the initial session, three teachers delivered captivating keynote speeches on diverse themes: "The Synergy of Music and Technology," "Upholding and Progressing," and "Elevating and Soaring." Through captivating case studies and insightful analysis, they underscored the boundless potential of integrating technology into education, highlighting their unwavering dedication to educational pursuits and eager vision for the future.
Furthermore, six teachers engaged in a spirited debate about the relative merits of "Qualitative vs. Quantitative Evaluation: Which Better Captures Student Performance?" From diverse perspectives, they offered participants fresh perspectives for consideration, broadening the discussion.
The event also presented multiple awards to recognize teachers' exploration and contributions. Eleven teachers who achieved remarkable results in technological exploration were awarded the Technology Exploration Award; nine teachers who provided stable emotional support for students were presented with the Green Oasis Award. Additionally, Mr. Liao, who has long been dedicated to technological guidance, was presented with the Going to All Corners Award due to his exceptional contributions.
In conclusion, SHSID High School Principal Mr. Ma delivered a closing speech. He recognized the accomplishments of 2023 and set forth additional development aspirations for 2024.
The second session encompassed group discussions led by subject groups. The discussions delved into utilizing new syllabi, planning interdisciplinary activities and subject days, incorporating historical culture into academic instruction, and conducting thorough evaluations of demonstration classes. These discussions served as a platform for teachers to exchange ideas and share experiences, ultimately enhancing the overall quality of teaching.
The "Little Grass Cup," a yearly professional development event for teachers, not only offers a platform for exchanging ideas and sharing experiences, but also infuses fresh momentum into their professional growth. It is anticipated that in the upcoming year, teachers will continue to unleash their potential and collaboratively advance the advancement of education at SHSID.
