Puxi Campus G8 | Career Day: Young students embark on their first exploration of the "Career"
Have you ever closed your eyes and wondered what you want to be in the future? The term “career” may sound distant to many grade 8 students, but developing interests, knowledge, and plans in related fields can guide students' high school years and future choices.
On November 23rd, Career Day, SHSID invited 12 distinguished parents from different careers to our school to share their experience and professional career lives, guiding students into the academic fields and work content of various industries. These careers included, but were not limited to, economics, law, medicine, etc., and are richly diverse and exciting.
The presentations were held in two locations chosen by the students: the auditorium and the Zhongxing Building lecture hall. Six parents gave speeches in each location. The topics included fundamental professions like medicine, law, and financial literacy, providing practical insights. There were also presentations on subjects of interest and academics, such as artificial intelligence, photosynthesis and membrane transport in plants, China's hydrogen economy, big data, hotel operations, and Moore's Law. Other example subtopics included plant biology, shipbuilding, engineering, sport careers, medical and data science, vaccinations, photo-resistant technology, online shopping, financial stability, hotel management and others.
There was frequent interaction between parents and students at the event, transitioning from everyday life scenarios into the realms of professions and academia. The daily routines of doctors, lawyers, scientists, and finance professionals were presented, along with cutting-edge scientific knowledge and economic thinking. The blueprints for future specialized fields were combined with specific disciplines of today. The presentations were insightful, professional, precise, and engaging, sparking student interest in unfamiliar fields.
Through the wonderful activities and lectures, students gained a deeper understanding and a broader vision of careers. At the same time, the parent-child face-to-face communication also deepened the students' understanding of their parents and inspired them to look forward to the future. At the same time, SHSID would like to express the most sincere special appreciation, and thanks to the parents who prepared thoroughly for this presentation. We also hope that every student will be able to create their own bright future!
