G1 | Lin’gang Campus: I am the Best Egg-cellent Parent

November 20, 2023

A five-day “Egg-cellent Parent” program was introduced in the first grade by the SHSID Lin'gang Campus with the goal of instilling in kids a sense of responsibility, gratitude, and the love and care of their parents.

Every first-grader painstakingly constructed a cozy and secure "egg house" before welcoming egg babies. Students must take meticulous care of their egg babies to prevent bumps from injuring them. If the egg babies can remain intact in 5 days, it will be considered that the students have successfully completed the task, and the dedicated students will be rewarded.

On Monday, the students welcomed their own little egg babies into their home and gave them loving names. The students started the "Egg Protection Action" by carrying their eggs to and from school each day. Children store their eggs in the safest spot they could find at school. Some kids also catered to their egg babies by talking to them and doing things with them. They also went to other egg babies' houses with their own egg babies. After school, they had dinner with their egg babies, asked them to accompany them when doing homework and going to sleep. Five days later, the children finally let out a breath of relief when they saw the egg babies safely and soundly lying at their small home. The "egg parents" that provided the most tender care for their egg babies received awards and diplomas on Friday. Apart from recording their personal nurturing of the eggs, the children have also completed "My Egg-cellent Parent Booklet," which included their personal observations and understanding: "My egg baby is also like my friend, accompanying me a lot.""It turns out that being a mother is not easy. I need to help her to do more things in the future..."

The Egg-cellent Parent program enables children to understand how to cherish and protect life, feel the love, companionship, and responsibility from their parents. It also allows them to feel the hard work and difficulty of taking care of themselves. By this activity, we hope to teach the kids to be grateful and inspire them to strive toward becoming more careful, accountable, and compassionate people.
