First Grade Parent Meeting of SHSID Hongkou Campus

October 25, 2023

In order to support children's growth, strengthen parent-school communication, and promote collaborative education, on the evening of October 24th, SHSID Hongkou Campus held its first parent meeting for first-grade students since the start of the school year.

The parent meeting began with a gathering in the auditorium. Grade 1 head teacher, Ms. Zhao Jing, first introduced an overview of the first grade, providing parents with detailed information about the educational goals and Personal Growth curriculum arrangement for the first grade. She also shared the children's growth and changes since the beginning of the school year.

Following this, subject teachers took turns to explain the curriculum, teaching arrangements, and subject activities for each subject. They also gave specific learning advice and suggestions for parental support.

At the end of the central meeting, Ms. Zhu Dan, director of the SHSID Hongkou Campus, had a warm and profound exchange with parents regarding the campus's development and how parents and the school can collaborate in education. With the strong support of various resources and the concerted efforts of the faculty and staff team, the Hongkou Campus has provided children with a healthy, comfortable, and professionally high-quality learning environment. Through Ms. Zhu Dan's introduction, parents felt the school's dedication and further increased their trust in the school.

Regarding how parents and the school can collaborate in education, Ms. Zhu Dan hopes that parents and the school can work together, unify their beliefs, and establish a solid foundation for parent-school cooperation. At the same time, she emphasized respecting the age characteristics and developmental patterns of the children, not rushing for immediate results. Leading by example, integrating knowledge and action, and setting an example for the children. Finally, parents need to complete a self-assessment checklist to understand whether they are wise and growth-oriented parents. Only when parents and the school each fulfill their responsibilities, trust and assist each other, and achieve effective communication, can they better support students' growth and nurture our children into 'independent learners.'

After the central meeting concluded, parents from each class were led by their homeroom teachers to tour the new campus, get to know the children's growth environment, and step into the classrooms to experience their classroom life. On every desk, there was a name card made by the children for their moms and dads, with words they wanted to say to their parents written on them. Parents looked at the cards with joy, feeling the children's growth.

This parent meeting has built a strong bridge for parent-school cooperation. We thank parents for their participation and support, and look forward to jointly writing a new chapter for the Hongkou Campus in the future.
