Communication and Enlightenment - Shanghai High School International Division High School Section "Lunch with the Principal" Event
At noon on October 24, Shanghai High School International Division High School Section once again hosted its annual "Lunch with the Principal" event. The atmosphere in the hall of Xianmian Building was filled with warmth and laughter as students from Grades 9 to 12 enjoyed pizza while having cordial conversations with Principal Ma about various aspects of campus life. Together, they shared a delightful and memorable lunch.
During the lunch, students from different grades shared their experiences and achievements in school activities. Byron, a 9th-grade student, talked about his participation in Chinese debate and international chess, which have broadened his interests within the school. Principal Ma encouraged students to explore their interests through various school activities, laying the foundation for their personal development. When some students reflected on their shortcomings in time management, Principal Ma advised them to learn the art of "subtraction," focusing their time and energy on activities that align with their genuine interests and potential future pursuits while enjoying the rich array of school activities. In their conversation, Principal Ma expressed his enthusiastic support for the students' club activities, appreciating their initiative in establishing new clubs and encouraging them to continue the existing excellent clubs.
Hankun, a 9th-grade student, expressed his passion for writing, which was highly appreciated by Principal Ma. Principal Ma emphasized the importance of writing in academic communication and research. He encouraged students to integrate writing with their subjects, cultivate confident expression, and use the various Chinese and English writing platforms and resources provided by the school to improve their writing skills.
Many 11th- and 12th-grade students actively shared their future academic plans for college, including their hopes and expectations, as well as their concerns and questions. After listening carefully to everyone's thoughts, Principal Ma encouraged the students to broaden their horizons, learn more about the majors they are interested in, manage their time and resources wisely, and explore fearlessly. He stressed the importance of continuously improving their overall quality and self-confidence during the high school stage.
As the relaxed and enjoyable conversation drew to a close, the lunch hour began to wind down. This lunch with the principal not only marked a wonderful lunch hour, but also began a journey of communication and enlightenment. The students were inspired and encouraged, feeling both warmth and excitement. With the enthusiasm of youth, they will continue to move forward and pursue their dreams.
