SHSID Establishes Cooperative Relationship with International Institute of Acoustic Technology

On October 18th, 2023, a cooperation agreement was signed between Shanghai High School International Division and the International Institute of Acoustic Technology. This agreement will pave the way towards building a world-class, research-oriented and innovative institution and enhance the cultivation of innovative literacy among students.

On the afternoon of October 18th, Mr. Liu Lian, Principal of SHSID Middle and Primary School, and Professor Lu Minghui, Vice Dean of College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Nanjing University, and Dean of International Institute of Acoustic Technology, represented both parties in signing the cooperation agreement. Mr. Liu Chang, Director of the International Institute of Acoustics and Technology, Mr. Tan Xin, Project Manager, Mr. Zhan Zhe, Mr. Wang Le, and Mr. Pan Youkang, Senior Engineers, and Mr. Wang Tao, Project Manager, as well as Ms. Luo Hua, Director of SHSID Middle and Primary School Affairs Center, Ms. Yao Shenghua, Creative Program Coordinator of SHSID Middle and Primary School, and Physics teachers Mr. Guo Lei and Mr. Feng Xiaotian, all participated in the signing ceremony.

Before the signing ceremony officially began, the visiting guests briefly toured the campus accompanied by Principal Liu Lian and Director Luo Hua. Both parties then engaged in a friendly exchange at the Zhongxing Building. Principal Liu warmly welcomed and expressed gratitude to the International Institute of Acoustic Technology for their visit and cooperation agreement with Shanghai High School International Division.

At the signing ceremony, Professor Lu Minghui, Dean of the International Institute of Acoustics and Technology, introduced the remarkable achievements of the institute in addressing national industrial development needs, breakthroughs in fundamental acoustic materials, core device research, major equipment systems, and the development and cultivation of innovative industries and talents. He also expressed a strong desire to support scientific popularization education in the primary education stage. Senior engineers Mr. Zhan Zhe and Mr. Wang Le made speeches successively afterwards. Under the topic of "Developing Future Vision, Cultivating Innovative Awareness," they elaborated on the background, basis and significance, as well as content of the cooperation, aiming to help SHSID to move forward in the development of top-ranked schools in basic education.

Established in 1993, the International Division of Shanghai High School has advanced educational concepts and has been committed to cultivating internationally minded individuals with a strong connection to China. Principal Liu Lian introduced the school's efforts and achievements in fostering the independent learning consciousness and social responsibility among middle and primary school students. He further expressed the hope that this collaboration would provide students with a better understanding of cutting-edge scientific and technological fields such as optics, acoustics, energy, etc., so as to let students return to the origin of their exploration of science and develop their natural instincts. Ms. Luo Hua briefly outlined the school's current innovative curriculum and laboratory construction efforts.

During the ceremony, the International Division of Shanghai High School and the International Institute of Acoustic Technology reached a consensus on cooperation strategies and curriculum design. Both parties expressed their commitment to carrying out the cooperative work effectively and in accordance with the agreement.

Following the signing ceremony, the school leaders team and the visiting delegation toured the Zhongxing Building and gained a more detailed and comprehensive understanding of Shanghai High School’s long education history, rich educational resources and advanced educational environment. Both parties expressed its intention for future collaboration, aiming to explore new avenues for science and technology education and generate fruitful experiences and outcomes.
