Puxi Campus G7-8 | 2023 SHAMUN
On October 13-15, 2023, 33 students from SHSID grades 7 and 8 participated in the 2023 SHAMUN . The conference brought together 16 schools and many talented and enthusiastic students from all over China. Throughout the three days, the students of SHSID were able to socialize, conduct speeches, and debate resolutions.
The conference featured various committees each holding unique topics. In each and every one of these committees, the students performed an excellent job and gave their very best effort. The student delegates performed exceptionally well in the conference, actively engaging in topic discussions and offering insightful individual perspectives. Not only did they have to collaborate with other delegates, they also competed for the best performance and status. Within each bloc, or group of students, congratulations to 8-2 Wynn ,8-5 Cici ,7-9 Echo , and 7-1 Sunny for being the main-submitter, or the leader of their group. Furthermore, congratulations to 8-3 TaeYun ,7-8 Elaine ,8-5 Edwin ,7-11 Isabel ,8-12 Rachel and 7-5 Isabel for acting as the main co-submitter, or second in charge of their bloc.
Students of SHSID were especially active and eager to participate, not only giving a large number of speeches, but also with amazing quality and fascinating ideas. They put forth their utmost effort for the event. In fact, many of the students brought home awards, including Outstanding Delegate for 7-8 Elaine,8-4 Sophie , 7-9 Echo ,8-5 Edwin ,7-7 Oscar and 8-12 Rachael, as well as Honorable Mentions for8-2 Kirsty and 7-1Sunny.
Whether it was their first time attending the conference or they had been to the conference many times, everyone did their best to show off their skills. It is worth mentioning that the conference presented the thematic concept of “Beyond the Matrix,” an initiative for students to go beyond the confines of traditional thinking frameworks. The valuable knowledge the students have gained empowers them to one day become the leaders of the future generation and the changers of history. The conference provided students with opportunities to develop critical thinking skills and enhance their public speaking abilities. Additionally, it offered invaluable diplomatic opportunities to cultivate global citizenship awareness and foster teamwork and collaboration. Students showcased their independent learning capabilities through critical and innovative thinking, as well as their ability to explore and solve problems.
