Puxi Campus G4-5 | Show Unity and Hard Work in Sports Week

October 18, 2023

As autumn begins to blossom, our wonderful sports week comes to an end. This week, the students of Grade 4 and 5 participated in various interesting sports activities, strengthened class cohesiveness, cultivated a sense of teamwork, and gained a deeper understanding of sportsmanship.

Monday was "Sports Hat Day", and students donned a variety of sports hats and eagerly participated in a series of creative sports gas station activities. Fourth grade carried out the "zombie war" and the "stop at red light, go at green light" game, testing the students' reaction and speed. "Sailor Captain" and "relay pass" have enhanced the students' sense of teamwork as well.

When five students stand in a circle and their hands are pulled together at will, how do they change back into a circle without letting go of the "knotted" hand? Through effective communication and cooperation, the fifth grade students successfully solved a "dead knot" and continued to challenge themselves by adding more people to the circle, enjoying the fun of puzzle-solving and success. The other part of the lawn is a fierce passing game, testing the students' physical flexibility and reaction ability. The fifth grade students demonstrated the single foot rotation jump, double jump, double fly, group jump, and some students showed the fancy skipping rope, which was dazzling. The final physical training camp let the students try plank, simple burpees and other fitness movements, showing the students' perseverance quality.

On Wednesday, the students put on a variety of sports socks and shuttled around the campus, forming a beautiful landscape. Fourth-grade gym class turned into a sports talk show, with students enthusiastically introducing their favorite sports stars or their favorite sports. Each story was like a small movie, showing their love for sports. The fifth grade ASB members prepared an exciting sports quiz with fun trivia about the rules of various sports, history, outstanding athletes and more. In the answer section, the tense and exciting atmosphere of the game reached a climax, and the students listened carefully and actively participated. Through this competition, the fifth grade students not only deepened their understanding of sports knowledge, but also exercised their leadership and organizational management skills.

On Thursday, students brought their favorite sports equipment to school. Many students put on jerseys of their favorite sports stars, and took this opportunity to find friends with similar interests. The fourth and fifth grade students watched a sports related movie, “Space Jam" or “Sand Lot", which all told the struggle and fighting spirit shown by sports, mutual support and friendship between teammates. All of the children felt the strength of dream, persistence and unity.

The fourth grade also organized a series of team building activities on Thursdays — from egg man and blind maze, to wordless puzzles, musical chairs, human knots, flags and castles, to pinball, each with fun and challenges. Here, the children learned to trust each other, to work as a team, and to experience the joy of victory as well as the courage to not be defeated by setbacks.

Another highlight of the week was the fifth-grade tug-of-war. Loud slogans, neat queues, fighting momentum all let the graduating students once again show the burning class spirit and team spirit. Whether win or lose, the students all laughed at the game, the game out of the spirit, the game out of the style. Unfortunately, due to the weather, we could not complete all rounds this week. Let's look forward to the birth of the champion next week!

Through this series of sports activities, the fourth and fifth grade students realized the importance of teamwork, and gained happiness and honor in the collective. We hope that our students can continue to carry forward the sportsmanship, perseverance, unity, confidence of the youth in their future study and life!
