Puxi Campus G6| Communication and Respect - YD Lesson Reflections
YD is an important class. In this class, the children of Puxi Campus Grade 6 learn about personal development, core values, and how to be a healthy and productive person both physically and mentally. This deviates from the regular core curriculum subjects such as Math, Science and English. YD is also popular because it teaches students important work habits and learning strategies that are crucial in building a foundation for future social networking skills, such as what true friendship looks like.
Austen, in class 6-7, reflected that this weeks’ YD class taught him how to resolve problems with friends and family more politely, respectfully, and honestly. Being mean and aggressive in a conflict does not solve the problem, in fact, it often makes it worse. However, if you calmly communicate the problem and find a way to resolve it, it's a win-win situation for everyone involved. On top of that, we learned what true friendship looks like and what a real friend is. You need to feel that your friends are loyal, real, honest, reliable and will ultimately bring happiness and positive contributions to your life.
All in all, YD is undoubtedly a very important and useful class and applies lessons to equip students with the ability to reflect on themselves and their school lives. It focuses more on the simultaneous development of physical and mental health in balance and benefit to their busy academic and social schedules.
