Puxi Campus G1-3 | Fun Sports Together, Nurturing Children’s Hearts through Physical Education
The sports showcases magnificent performances, where young athletes compete with grace. The hosting of the 19th Asian Games has sparked a wave of sports enthusiasm, which has also swept through Shanghai High School International Division. On October 9th, students from grades 1 to 3 at SHSID Puxi Campus eagerly welcomed the long-awaited Sports Carnival.
Accompanied by lively music, the students from grades 1 to 3 marched in with great spirit onto the outdoor basketball court. Once all the students were seated, the opening ceremony officially began. Miranda, a student representative from Class 2 (7), delivered a speech. She shared her experience of participating in the swimming team selection process and conveyed the message that perseverance and courage lead to success. She also shared her own advice on balancing work and play: first, take things seriously, then enjoy them to the fullest. Following that, Ms. Zhang Yi, Director of SHSID Puxi Campus Grade 1-3, gave a speech. Ms. Zhang expressed gratitude to the sports teachers for their diligent preparations and the parent volunteers for their enthusiastic assistance. She wished for the children to enjoy the joy of sports and further develop close relationships with each other through the various group games.
Next, the cheerleading performance brought the excitement of the opening ceremony to a climax. Waving hands, along with cute, lively movements and energetic cheers melted the hearts of all the guests. Their determined postures and confident smiles marked the most beautiful start to this Sports Carnival.
Ms. Liu Fang, Vice Principal of SHSID Middle and Primary School, announced the official start of the Sports Carnival. Thereafter, the students rotated among three venues to enjoy a variety of sports games. Laughter and joy filled the air, creating a delightful atmosphere.
“Snowflake Relay, Water Relay, Cross the Fireline” tests the agility of the children. In the Water Relay event, the children need to saturate a sponge with water, quickly run to the opposite bucket, and then do their best to squeeze out the water from the sponge. The sequence of actions flowed smoothly.
“The Inanimate Object Relay” and the“Crab Dash” challenge the coordination of the body. In the Crab Dash event, children need to move forward by putting a ring around their legs. Upon doing so, they transform into little crabs, shuttling at the fastest speed, which is incredibly adorable!
“The Caterpillar Race” requires the spirit of cooperation among the children, and unity and synchronicity are the key to victory. Six people sit across a giant caterpillar, where each person acts as one of the caterpillar’s legs, helping it reach the finish line. It seemed as if the caterpillar had wheels on it, swiftly crossing the finish line in the blink of an eye. Other groups had uneven steps, causing the caterpillar to wobble up and down, which was equally amusing.
The Sports Carnival came to an end. The students not only exercised their bodies but also developed a sense of teamwork and perseverance. They learned to respect their opponents and encourage one other, gaining friendship and a joyful sense of community. May the spirit of sports continue to shine in their hearts, and guide them to exercise, cultivate their willpower, and become strong and well-rounded global citizens!
