Grades 9-10: House Program First Meeting
On the morning of September 21, SHSID House Program’s first meetings were held in various classrooms in the Zhentao Building. During the first two weeks of the school year, 48 outstanding Chinese and foreign teachers from different subject departments identified their interests and provided detailed self-introductions, which were assembled into a mentor manual for G9 and G10 students to make their choices with a full understanding of the direction of their mentors. This year, the themes of each House are more diversified as some of them are about the expansion of the mentors' subject areas such as physics, chemistry, biology, environmental sciences, economics, history, etc. Some of them are about the overall planning and preparation for high school, such as the STEM activity pathway or business competition activity pathway planning, etc. Some of them are about the development of skills such as academic writing, creative writing, and second language acquisition, etc.
The mentors introduced the special themes and upcoming activities of their Houses, and once again clarified the activities that need to be completed in the first semester such as theme lectures, PA lectures, Job Shadow Day, G9 Freshman Project, etc. We hope that House activities will broaden the horizons of the students, provide them with resources, and enable them to enjoy the high school life in a better way.
