Fire Drill for Grades 1 to 3 at Puxi Campus
On Wednesday afternoon, students and teachers from Grades 1 to 3 of SHSID conducted the first fire drill of the academic year. The purpose of the fire drill is to ensure that everyone remains calm in the event of emergencies such as a fire, evacuates quickly and orderly to a safe zone, and practices self-protection to avoid injuries during this process. Fire drills are an essential safety education tool for students. SHSID conducts regular fire drills every semester without fail.
During the Personal Growth class, the students had just reviewed the safety principles for when a fire occurs. Just then, the fire alarm suddenly went off, and everyone immediately stopped what they were doing. Each class quickly formed a line. The entire process proceeded quietly, efficiently, and orderly. Everyone wore masks and covered their noses and mouths with their hands, crouching low as they followed their designated evacuation routes out of the elementary school building. Responsible teachers were stationed at emergency exits to help evacuate people and maintain discipline. After each grade reached their designated safe area, the homeroom teacher promptly counted the students. Once it was confirmed that all students were present, this fire drill concluded successfully. Students then returned to their respective classrooms under the guidance of their teachers. Ms. Zhang Yi, Director of SHSID Puxi Campus Grade 1-3, summarized and commented on this drill.
This fire drill serves as a reminder that in times of emergency, it is essential to remain calm and evacuate to a safe area following the practiced procedures.
For the first-grade students, this was their first experience participating in a fire drill in our new campus. They followed instructions, remained composed, and quickly formed two lines under the guidance of their homeroom teachers, reaching the safe area in record time. Kudos to them!
Safety is of paramount importance, and we believe that through regular drills and practice, both teachers and students will keep safety at the forefront of their minds at all times.
