G8 | ASB Election

The Grade 8 ASB Election held in September was an overwhelming success. This event brought together 28 passionate leaders, and the whole Grade 8 student body eagerly cast their votes for the leaders who will shape their middle school experience. It will be remembered for its energy, enthusiasm, and leadership initiatives.

The ASB (Associated Student Body) election is an annual tradition at SHSID, where students are afforded the opportunity to elect their peers to represent them in various student government roles. During these elections, students share their ideas and plans through brief speeches.

The atmosphere on the day of the election was electric. Students filled the school's multipurpose room, where the event was held, with anticipation and excitement. Mr. Laverriere, the host for the event, he introduced the candidates, asked them thought-provoking questions, and encouraged the students to participate actively in the process. His charismatic and engaging style kept the crowd enthralled throughout the proceedings.

The Grade 8 candidates were an impressive group, each with unique ideas and visions for the future of their school. They showcased themselves in a vibrant manner, exuding confidence as they delved into various issues during their speeches. Topics ranged from enhancing extracurricular activities to improving the school's environmental footprint. They also shared experiences and personal growth while serving their fellow students. Each candidate's speech was met with applause and cheers from their peers. The ASB election marked the official beginning of student activities for the academic year, and we wish all aspiring candidates the utmost success in their future endeavors.
