G2-3 | Pudong Campus: Let's Talk About Food Safety!
The September sunshine has filled our campus with enthusiasm for food safety. In our first class of the semester, teachers and students from the Pudong campus embarked on a unique journey toward healthy eating with the theme of "Food Safety."
Food Appraiser Identifier
To begin, teachers and students explored various types of food in our lives. Students identified whether the food was healthy and engaged in discussions about healthy and unhealthy options. They also learned how to carefully examine food packaging to select safe and healthy options.
Food Sorting Game
In the second grade, students used their own discerning eyes to categorize a variety of foods. Through this game, they analyzed common foods in their lives and contemplated the effects of food on our bodies, as well as the right attitude towards food.
Designing Nutritious Lunch
Third graders were challenged to design a super nutritious lunch. In this activity, students referenced the Diet Pyramid and created different diet combinations according to its guidelines to understand the importance of a balanced diet. This reinforced the idea that we should incorporate a variety of foods into our lives to ensure that our bodies receive sufficient nutrients.
Healthy and Delicious School Lunch
At the end of the session, students recalled inappropriate lunchtime behaviors at school. Through group discussions, they understood the proper approach to dealing with disliked foods. While every student has food preferences, there are two important rules: first, try new foods as the same dish may taste differently when prepared by different people; second, ensure daily intake of carbohydrates, vitamins, and proteins.
Through this class, students learned the concept of "You Are What You Eat" and the importance of "Trying a Variety of Foods." This activity not only raised awareness of food safety among children but also enhanced their dietary literacy, illuminating the path to health and growth. Let's become wise and healthy gourmets together!
