G7 | Middle School Biology Department: Dissected Pig Brain and Cow Eye

June 13, 2023

On June 9th, as the G7 students entered the lab accompanied by their science teachers, an odor reminiscent of fish immediately filled their nostrils. However, this did not deter them from the exciting prospect of dissection. The school had previously provided numerous similar opportunities, but being able to observe and dissect some of the most vital organs in the human body was truly a marvelous experience in and of itself!

After reviewing some of the basic concepts and structures studied in class, the students started to work. Divided into groups, some students put on gloves and performed the actual dissection, while the others drew and labeled diagrams on their lab reports. This time, they had the opportunity to closely examine a pig's brain and a cow's eye, identifying various parts such as the cerebrum, brainstem, cerebellum, lens, iris, cornea, and more. Not only was this a wonderful chance for students to reflect on the knowledge points covered in class, but it also served as an opportunity for students’ hands-on experimentation! The students are looking forward to participating in more experiments in the future.
