Grade 9: Assembly - Time Management
On the morning of June 9, alumnus Charlie Ji from SHSID Class of 2021 gave a lecture to the ninth graders about “Time Management and Implementation Capacity”.
After briefly introducing himself, Charlie moved on to list some problems he faced in ninth grade (many of which current ninth graders face as well). For instance, Charlie said that he would do homework late or get distracted by his phone and find it impossible to put it down, all these listed scenarios elicited a murmur of agreement across the room. Then, Charlie talked about time management. He introduced the Urgency-Importance Matrix to the students and explained the importance of creating a to-do list and a timetable for both long-term and short-term tasks. Next, Charlie pointed out some ways to improve implementation capacity, as well as to minimize distractions from electronic devices and social media. After giving some concluding thoughts, Charlie received a round of applause from the ninth graders who learned a lot about how to wisely manage time and life in high school from the lecture.
