G1 | Pudong Campus: The Story Tellers are Coming!
The first-grade teachers and students of SHSID Pudong Campus held a wonderful storytelling feast: Story Tellers this week. The competition was divided into a first round and a final round. In the first round, each child prepared a short story of about two minutes and performed it to the class. Through the first round, each class selected six outstanding storytellers to represent their class to attend the final round.
Finally, in Chinese class on Wednesday, the students selected participated in the final round. Each contestant prepared carefully, some brought props such as scarecrows, a rabbit doll, matches, etc., while others wore costumes that fit the image of the story characters. In addition to the beautiful stage props and costumes, the stories told by the young contestants were interesting and diverse. Some were foreign legends such as Momotaro and Avanti Fight against the Wicked Merchant, some were local Chinese stories such as Yugong Yishan and Chang'e Benyue. Some students chose fables to perform, such as The Snail's Trophy, some chose fairy tales such as Changing Mothers.
The storytelling competition came to an end with the wonderful performances of the "storytellers." The students not only enjoyed the interesting stories, but also practiced how to summarize and tell a story in the process of preparing for the competition. It’s also a very good chance for them to improve their Chinese speaking skills.
