Lin’gang Campus: Celebrating Children’s Day in Style
Children’s Day is not only a holiday for children to have fun and relax, but also an excellent opportunity to celebrate love, growth, companionship and care. This year, all children from SHSID Lin’gang Campus experienced the colorful and happy childhood together with laughter.
Warm Up June 1st, Keep Up the Momentum
Before the arrival of Children’s Day on June 1st, all G2 children of Lin’gang Campus held an outdoor and fierce tug-of-war on the playground.
This competition was divided into four groups: girls’ group, boys’ group, class competition, and teacher-student competition. The girls were the first to take to the court, and they were all holding the rope tightly in a “lunge” position. The boys were not relaxed either, one by one, blushing and gritting their teeth. The next class competition was equally wonderful. The children in both classes tried their best to pull the thick rope, only to see the red ribbon in the middle from side to side, pushing the tense atmosphere to one climax after another. The competition between teachers and students filled the atmosphere. As soon as the teachers came on stage, the children were not to be outdone, and decided to pull the long rope together. The shouting of the children was full of strength, and finally the children won the competition.
Science Makes the Children’s Day Joyful
At 9 o’clock in the morning, with beautifully-made posters displayed on the table, all children finally ushered in their long-awaited Children’s Day, and the Science Fair was the first activity we celebrated. The children became little scientists, and excitedly told everyone about their own scientific experiments. Some children also demonstrated their own small experiments on the spot, and everyone’s faces were full of curiosity, joy, and satisfaction. The K’Nex mechanical construction team from the Science Carnival of SHSID middle and primary school section came to the scene and staged a good show of building blocks and technological integration. Students from East Shanghai High School also brought exhibitions of scientific and technological works to our children, leading them to swim in the ocean of science together.
Magic Show
Time passed quickly. As soon as the Science Fair came to an end, the second guest appeared in everyone’s field of vision — the clown. His modeling was funny, his clothes were colorful, and his expression was exaggerated. No matter the children or the teachers saw him, they smiled unconsciously. Look! Simple and ordinary balloons were turned into vivid little animals in the hands of clowns! During the magic show, the children were sometimes nervous, and sometimes they burst into laughter.
My “Fashion Items”
“Click!” There was a burst of sound of camera shutter at the entrance of the G1 classroom. The G1 children were showing their hats decorated with paint in front of the camera. Some painted their favorite pet dogs, some painted their own images 10 years later, and some posted a photo of a family of three. The girls wrapped their hats with colored ribbons and tied them into bows. The boys hung football beads on one side of the hats, and the beads jingled. Children became hat designers and are designing their own “fashion items”.
Fairy Tales about Blue Ocean
While the wonderful magic show in the morning time still impressed the children a lot, they went through another magical fairy tale world-an ocean fantasy adventure with the Little Mermaid movie. In order to let the children have an immersive feeling of watching movies, teachers chose the 3D giant screen hall as the viewing place. The ups and downs of the plot affected the children’s hearts to rise and fall together, and the thrilling special effects attracted the children to marvel again and again. They were sometimes nervous and excited, sometimes burst into laughter, sometimes shook their heads, sighed, cried, and laughed with the little mermaid, as if they were there. Little Mermaid is the embodiment of being strong, brave, blazing and free. She shows us that although the journey of pursuing dreams is arduous, we should be brave and never be afraid. It doesn’t have to be Ariel herself, and there is no need to be a princess, but we can all have the strength, enthusiasm, and courage to face the thorny jungle on the way to pursuing dreams.
I Am your Guardian Star
In the G1 classroom, the top of cubby was filled with all kinds of small flowerpots with children’s names written on it. The loose and moist soil was covered with the seeds of plants that had just been planted, including hyacinthus orientalis, cornflower, marigold, baby’s breath, colored carrots, etc. The message written by children to the green plants was also posted on the flowerpots and shone in the sunshine — “I hope you will grow into a happy little flower!” “Grow up together, you are my good friend!” “You have to be happy, and I will always like you!”… In the next year, children will personally take care of the growth of plants, water them, weed them and fertilize them … Children will witness small seeds break out of the ground, grow bright green leaves and gorgeous flowers, and some will bear rich fruits. Plants will also become their guardian stars, accompany them in this year's growth, and witness that they grow taller, learn more knowledge, read more books, and develop. The G1 children also made an agreement that on next year’s Children's Day when they have grown into second-grade primary school students, they will bring their plant friends over, share a journal introducing the plants' growth stories throughout the year.
Best Wish“s
"May you shine as hard as a little star, be strong, be lovely, be loved forever, and have a happy Children's Day!" In the video of Love Message recorded by G2 parents for their children, the camera flashed and swept through the eyes of every parent, to convey what remained unchanged was the love as always.
The G2 teachers also prepared exquisite small gifts for the children. Acrylic photo frames and small photos were packed in small bags and placed on the podium in the classroom. Looking at the small photos, we can see that each child’s face photo was pieced together. The faces filled with bright smiles conveyed infinite innocence and sunshine to us. This small gift is not only a record of good memories of teachers and students, but also contains and conveys the teacher's deep concern for the children and hope for the future.
The seeds sown by teachers, parents and schools with love will grow slowly in children's hearts, from bud to seedling, to a lush little tree, and finally grow into a towering tree that can give shade to others ...
