Grade 7: Field Trip Awards — The Planets, Stars, and Beyond
To follow up the field trip to the planetarium, the seventh grade teachers organized some evaluation activities with awards including the Best Little Tour Guide, the Best Photography, and the Best Video Production.
In order to fully motivate the students and help them understand astronomy more deeply, each class had its own volunteer tour guides. These tour guides thoroughly researched numerous exhibits throughout the week, and shared their knowledge with the rest of their students during the day of the trip, helping their peers better understand the planetarium and its displays.
Another exciting task that the pupils had while on this trip was to take pictures of all the exhibits that they found interesting. The students were asked to submit their photos after the visit and posted them on the wall in the corridor. The full-year students voted for their favorites.
In the end, Sophie G from class 7(9) won. Alice from class 7(1) and Catherine from 7(12) also came in close, finishing in second and third places. Furthermore, a few students even recorded their own videos at the planetarium and submitted their films to the teachers. Ryann 7(1), Sean 7(2), Gordon 7(4), Carolyn 7(11), Jessie 7(12), and Richard 7(12) were some of the students with the most outstanding videos from the field trip. These videos are scrolling on the TV in the hallway, with classmates constantly watching during breaks to relive the beauty of that day.
Overall, the seventh-grade field trip was an epic success. These precious and beautiful visual memories will accompany the vast starry sky and stay in the minds of students, laying an important foundation for their future scientific exploration.
