Puxi Campus G4-5: Enchanting China, Loving China — Chinese Culture Week Performance
The Chinese civilization of five thousand years continues the spiritual blood of the Chinese nation. On May 25th, students from Grade 4 and 5 of SHSID once again went through the five thousand years of Chinese history, with a performance showing the long accumulation of Chinese civilization.
Chapter One: Poetry Chanting
Five thousand years of culture come with three thousand years of poetry. At the beginning of the performance, the fifth-grade students brought us the “The Land of China, Heroes of China” poetry joint recitation. Some chanted out the beautiful scenery of mountains and rivers, some chanted elegant and beautiful Song Ci, and others sighed out the mind of the world's ambition. The uniform voice and the passionate emotion showed the power and emotional resonance given by the classic poetry.
Chapter Two: Dream Back to the Tang Dynasty
A powerful guzheng solo opened the second chapter. In the Chinese reading activity, the fifth-grade H-level Chinese students read a book about Chang 'an City in the Tang Dynasty. They composed, directed and performed "Adventures in the Tang Dynasty" centering on the theme of "time travel", leading the audience to enjoy the gorgeous atmosphere of the prosperous Tang Dynasty. After weeks of writing, planning and filming, it finally hit the big screen today! The students' original stories are not only full of whimsical ideas, but also show respect for history . The cast members said in the interview that they enjoyed the process very much. They further admitted that they needed to constantly adjust and optimize in order to shoot a perfect shot, but the experience was a valuable memory for them, which helps them gain the sense of achievement.
Chapter Three: Show the Treasures
During the Chinese Culture Week, the Grade 4 students learned more about Chinese tea culture and developed their interest in other traditional Chinese cultures. As little spokesmen, they brought these national treasures to the “Diverse Museum", and invited teachers and students present to have a look. What famous mountains and rivers have you been to in China? What strange birds and beasts have you read in the Classic of Mountains and Seas? Why is Chinese martial art famous everywhere? Why is Sichuan cuisine so popular around the world? Spokesmen analyzed from the history, characteristics, and influence perspectives, bring a comprehensive interpretation to the audience.
Chapter Four: Sing the Classic
Poetic China has a long history. The main theme of the fourth chapter is sung by various songs of Chinese style. Teachers and students walked into the classic together, sing classic together, and taste the deep feeling through time. The teachers and students of Grades 4 and 5 sang many classic songs together, many of which skillfully used Chinese poetry as lyrics, accompanied by Chinese style melody, and at the same time integrated the traditional singing and live performance of classical instruments. All the audience were immersed in the beauty of the music and the charm of Chinese language. Finally, all the teachers and students sang the chorus "Treading Mountains and rivers", pushing the atmosphere to a climax!
Chapter Five: Dance in Beauty
The singing and dancing left a deep impression on the audience. The single dance “The Dream of Spring” styled as the female role in Chinese opera and surprised everyone. The students of G4-5 classical dance club also brought us the soft and colorful "Drunk Spring Breeze", which made people feel the beauty of the combination of rigidity and flexibility, as well as the aesthetic taste of both form and spirit.
History rolls away as time goes. The fourth and fifth grade students in this small stage of Chinese Culture show gratitude for the gift of time, remember the precious mark of history, and enjoy the essence of Chinese culture.
