TA House Workshop: Explore Competitive Programming & Scientific Research
On May 10, Mr. He Tianzhou gave a lecture on the theme of "Exploration Competitive Programming and Scientific Research" at Zhentao Building. Some students who were interested in programming competitions or scientific research participated in this lecture.
In the lecture, Mr. He introduced the students to two main types of competitive programming competitions currently: one is algorithm-based programming competitions, mainly including the USACO, ACSL, CSP/NOIP, and the other is programming competitions that focus on students' creativity, mainly including the Swift Student Challenge and the Congressional App Challenge. Mr. He further shared information regarding the preparation for participating in programming competitions and the ways to find competition resources.
In the field of scientific research, Mr. He discussed how students can conduct research from three aspects: how to find an appropriate project, how to conduct research planning, and how to find resources step by step.
At the end of the lecture, Mr. He reminded students that there are no shortcuts to scientific research, and that students need to have strong self-motivation. He also reminded students to balance their time and energy between in-class learning and extracurricular-competition research.
