On April 16, 2023, the 38th Shanghai Youth Science and Technology Innovation Contest closed with the support of the Shanghai Municipal Association for Science and Technology, the Municipal Education Commission, the Municipal Science and Technology Commission, the Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau, the Municipal Greening and City Appearance Administration, the Municipal Intellectual Property Office, Shanghai Science and Technology Committee, the Municipal Youth League Committee, the Municipal Women's Federation, the China Welfare Association, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences Shanghai Branch, Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, Shanghai Science Popularization Education Development Foundation, Shanghai Science and Technology Development Foundation, and Shanghai Science Popularization Foundation. The science and technology event that lasted for more than 3 months came to an end.
The Middle and Primary School Sections of SHSID achieved outstanding results, receiving 45 ranking awards, including 4 first prizes, 5 second prizes, and 12 third prizes for scientific and technological innovation achievements, and 7 first prizes, 4 second prizes and 13 third prizes for scientific and technological innovations. These awards cover various fields, such as engineering, life science, environmental science, computer science and information technology, behavioral and social sciences, etc. Furthermore, some exceptional projects also received 6 special awards.
One of the most gratifying things is that one project from our school was selected as one of the 25 projects to represent Shanghai in the National Contest.
The 38th Shanghai Youth Science and Technology Innovation Contest began on January 3, 2023, and received a total of 14,205 applications from participating teachers, students, and units in the city. According to statistics, the overall winning rate was 39.53%. In the "Youth Scientific and Technological Innovation Achievements" section, 11,346 applications were received, and 700 projects among them were shortlisted for final evaluation, with a rate of 6.17%. After offline final evaluation, 585 first prizes, 1,463 second prizes, and 2,437 third prizes were selected for youth scientific and technological innovation achievements, totaling 4,485. The first prize winning rate was 5.16%, the second prize winning rate was 12.89%, and the third prize winning rate was 21.48%.
The exceptional achievements of the Middle and Primary School Sections of SHSID are closely related to the school's cultivation of students' innovative ability. The school has actively promoted the implementation of science and innovation courses and activities, continued to deepen the reform of education methods, integrated scientific knowledge and innovative concepts into students' daily learning and activities, encouraged teachers to become mentors for students' research projects, and guided students to carry out research projects. Through cooperation with colleges and universities, the school strives to build a platform for cultivating and improving students' innovative spirit and practical ability. As a result, this approach helps students to grow in an all-round way and achieve more in their areas of interest.
