Pudong Campus: Learning Through Communications — The 2nd Kids Talk
What is your hobby? How will AI impact our lives? These are just some of the many interesting topics and questions being discussed among the students at Pudong Campus. To uncover the answers, we present to you the second Kids Talk of SHSID Pudong campus. On the afternoon of April 13th, all the students and teachers of Pudong Campus gathered in the auditorium to listen to the inspirational speeches given by ten student presenters.
When the Kids Talk was announced at the end of March, students from all grades showed great interest by signing up and preparing their speeches. The topic of this year is My Independent Learning Experience. After an in-class presentations, ten students were selected as presenters for the second Kids Talk and were invited to share their insights and discoveries in front of the entire campus on April 13th.
On the day of the Kids Talk, the speakers transformed themselves into confident and effective communicators. The audience was impressed by their captivating presentation skills. The speakers engaged the audience by sharing their joyful journeys in various areas such as how to build an AI robot that finds books for you, why Chinese Go is so profound, how to become a better independent learner, and how to find your own passion. Each topic was like a cave full of treasure waiting to be explored by the audience. The presentations were informative and inspiring, showing the speakers' personal experiences. All the students in the audience related and recalled moments when they were fascinated by Chinese Go, their first-time experience of ice skating, and some were even excited to build their own AI robot to find books. Each wonderful sharing was not only a personal experience of the speaker but also an inspiration and encouragement to every member of the audience. The speakers on stage spoke eloquently, and the audience off the stage was illuminated with new insights.
As a student forum, Kids Talk offers a platform for our students to share their learning experiences. However, Kids Talk is much more than just a forum, as shown by the main title of this event, which reads, 'Learn from Communication, Learn from Each Other.' We believe that Kids Talk can open minds, spread ideas, spark passions, and guide students towards creative and sustainable learning. In this complex and ever-changing world, education is no longer just about teaching knowledge and skills. Instead, it should be centered on equipping the youth with a compass and tools to adapt to the future and, more importantly, thrive in it. By doing so, students take responsibility for their own lives and the world around them. This, we believe, is how we should prepare our students to shape a brighter future.
