Puxi G3: Draw a Map of the SHSID

April 7, 2023

SHSID is about to celebrate its 30th birthday. As members of SHSID, the third-grade students in Puxi Campus took active actions, eager to use their recent math knowledge to design a unique map for the school.

The little mapmakers used polygons such as triangles, quadrilaterals, and pentagons to represent different school buildings. As data sorting was easy for them, the students found the perimeter and area of the building by using the formula they learned recently during math classes. The roads on the map also contain mysteries. Some of them intersect each other, some are parallel to each other, while others are perpendicular to each other. All of these were planned by the students based on the knowledge of line relationship in math.

Aiming at the renovation part of the west district currently under construction, the students gave full play to their imagination and actively contributed ideas and suggestions for the school. They designed novel icons to celebrate the 30th anniversary of SHSID, among which there are blazing flames, rising sea and bright moon, and spreading wings flying eagle, etc.

The students have spent two weeks planning, arranging, and polishing the map, and finally the exquisite finished product was released. This work is full of the children's love and pride for SHSID.
