Pudong Campus: Growth Mindset
Individuals with Growth Mindset tend to choose goals that help them learn and develop new skills (even if they may fail at first), and are able to persist more when faced with challenging tasks. Cultivating students' growth mindset is an important theme throughout the character and moral education in the fourth grade.
At the beginning of the semester, under the guidance of G4 teachers, students in Pudong campus planned specific learning and interest goals for their new semester. A goal without a plan is like "talking on paper". Therefore, in the PG class of the fourth week, teachers and students discussed how to gradually achieve the goal according to the plan. Students discussed in groups, brainstormed, and screened feasible, specific, and time-sensitive plans for their own goals.
At the same time, the teacher gave each student a piece of the puzzle to write down his/her plan on this piece, decorated it with color, and made it his/ her own "exclusive" appearance. When these pieces were given to the teachers, the students were pleasantly surprised to find that these puzzle pieces finally came together into a huge poste -- a picture of the "strongest brain" where colors and ideas collide. This chart will be the first step in developing a growth mindset for the fourth graders.
