Grade 11: Opening Ceremony for Labor Education Experience Week

March 10, 2023

On the noon of March 6th, teachers and students from SHSID and SHS gathered around the Longmen Building to join the opening ceremony for the Labor Education Experience Week and the Environment Protection Initiative. This year is the first time the International division also participates in the Labor Week. The two environmental projects are dedicated to fostering students’ love for the campus environment and deepening friendship between international and local divisions.

Up first, Dai from class nine of SHS introduced the Labor Education Experience Week to the crowd. He began by thanking the school staff for their efforts to maintain the beautiful campus environment. Dai then encouraged all students to learn from the kind and hardworking staff and take on each one’s share of protecting the campus environment. He wrapped up his speech by pointing out how commendable and necessary community labor service is.

Equally important, the Environment Protection Initiative is also a crucial part of campus environment protection. Zhou and Chen, from SHS and SHSID, respectively, delivered the Initiative proposal written by the students, which expressed hope for student participation in working to create a clean and orderly scene near the convenience store. To complement the Initiative, a promotion banner was propped up beside the storefront, allowing teachers and students to express their support through signatures. Soon enough, the banner was filled up with signatures, showing the student body’s enthusiasm for the Initiative.

The opening ceremony came to an end with inspiring speeches by SHS Deputy Director of the Moral Education Department Wang Ying and SHSID High School Principal Ma Feng. Both expressed their optimism in promoting cultural integration for both divisions, encouraging students to join the communal effort of caring for the campus environment. The slogan “Think Big, Do Small, and Make the Campus Beautiful” resounded in the air, marking the exciting start of the Labor Education Experience Week. We hope that through Labor Week, students from both divisions can cultivate their spirits for service and hard work.
