Grades 9-10: The House Program
The G9-10 House Program officially launched with mentor introductions and mentor selection completed. As part of the school's dual mentor system, the House Program is designed to help each student’s personalization and lifelong development, help students make self-analysis and focus on their interests, and cultivate students' key abilities to adapt to future changes.
Before the start of this semester, the mentor team had been established with members with different backgrounds and teaching experience. The mentors designated the House theme and plan, completed the introduction and publicity materials, including educational background, teaching experience, guiding direction, specialties, etc. To inspire students to counsel with the mentors, contact ways and photos of mentors were also offered to the students. This year, we have mentors with many years’ worth of class management or competition instruction experience.
Since the start of school, students have been able to make their own decisions on choosing mentors according to their interests and skills they want to develop. G9-10 students are in the period of exploring themselves and career planning. The expertise of the instructor team covers several aspects of the development stage, providing students with opportunities to develop interests in and understand the future of different fields.
In early March, all 31 mentors each held their first meetings with students. They arranged ice-breaking activities, then offered students their available counseling times and activity plans and formats. There were also some tasks assigned to the students, such as book-sharing and family member career interviews.
For the rest of the semester, each House is about to carry out diverse activities to provide students with a suitable development platform to meet the diverse needs of the students, so that each student will obtain a sustainable development for themselves.
