Grade 10 Assembly: Girl's Programming Club
On February 22, 10th-grade students gathered in Zhentao Building Lecture Hall. Yuting from 10(4) shared her experience with computer science and introduced the Girl’s Programming Club as the club leader.
Other than the activities and games club members had prepared for the Club Fair, Yuting also showed some interesting projects done by the members during weekly activities. Some of those were double tic-tac-toe, a version of Monopoly®, and an advanced calculator. Students could see the functions of the calculator through video. It could calculate Boolean expressions and derivatives. Coincidentally, students had been learning derivatives at the time, and they found it interesting. Recently, club members have been learning AP Java taught by a senior student who founded the club. Yuting displayed a short and easy piece of Java code and its running result to further explain what they have learned. Finally, Yuting took herself as an example and encouraged students to take part in learning computer science. She expressed her hopes for seeing more girls being interested in computer science and is looking forward to girls joining them in the club.
