High School Physics Department: Joint Seminar on Physics and Chemistry

On November 28, 2022, the Physics and Chemistry lesson preparation group of Grade 9 of Shanghai High School International Department held a seminar in the Zhentao Building conference room.

Physics and chemistry are both natural sciences based on experiments. Measurement and experimental data processing are both key and difficult points throughout high school. First of all, the two department heads, Mr. Xu Zhencheng and Mr. Sun Hao, respectively, elaborated the outline requirements of physics and chemistry in experiment, and compared the characteristics of the two disciplines and the test focus of the experiment requirements. Then, the two lesson-preparation leaders brainstormed the confusion points that students may have in the learning process, and put forward corresponding solutions. In the discussion session that followed, the teachers exchanged ideas on how to unify the standards to help students better understand the requirement, and finally reached a consensus.

This conference also explored other areas where physics and chemistry teaching can work together to help students achieve a better learning experience and develop interdisciplinary thinking.
