High School Physics Department: Career Choice for Physics Majors
On November 22, 2022, Ms. Wang Yan, House mentor, gave a lecture entitled "Career Choices for Physics Majors" for students in Room 211 of Zhentao Building. This lecture closely satisfies the needs of students and attracted many students who were already interested in physics.
At the beginning of the lecture, Ms. Wang explained the importance of physics as a basic subject, which is closely related to all walks of life. Among them, we are more familiar with the occupation of a physics teacher, physics researcher, an architectural designer, engineer, and so on. In some other natural fields, such as medicine and environmental sciences, modern medical equipment and instruments, such as laser, radiation, X-ray, ultrasound, nuclear magnetic resonance, infrared detection, and so on, are inseparable from the application of physics knowledge.
Ms. Wang then introduced the application of physics to some social sciences. In the field of finance and economics, for example, physics principles and models are often used to solve complex problems in the economic and financial markets. For legal practitioners, physics education enables them to have a good foundation in the natural sciences so that they can become more competitive and interdisciplinary. This is especially true for forensics and patent lawyers.
Finally, Ms. Wang said that physics can greatly expand a person's career options by developing skills that can be transferred to other professions. In this lecture, all the students listened with great interest and had more comprehensive and profound thinking about their future career choices. Ms. Wang answered the students' questions one by one, and expressed the hope that students can apply the knowledge of physics to their future lives flexibly!
