G4-5 Math: Embark on the Journey of Math
As autumn is approaching, in the rich fragrance of osmanthus, students are facing new math challenges. In the lovely autumn breeze, golden leaves raise the curtain for students to their math journey in October.
The fourth graders went on a ‘shopping trip’ during the National Day holiday. They planned to choose a dazzling variety of things and filled baskets and shopping carts. Some students planned to prepare for the camp buying plenty of fruit, snacks and drinks. Some students planned to cook a big dinner at home, so they bought fresh fish, shrimps and seasonal vegetables. Some students wanted to have a family cleaning during the holiday, so they bought cleaning appliances, ready to clean the house to make it neat again. What’s more, students tooke into consideration their budget, making a long shopping list and figuring out the total amount of money they needed before they could confidently say, "Buy!"
In addition, fifth graders had made perfect plans for their holiday road trips. From destination to travel routes, from tourist attractions to hotels, from food to souvenirs, students made plans and worked out the budget. Some students planned to go to Disneyland in California. They could dance with Mickey Mouse and chat with Snow White, having a good time with their friends. Some students planned to go to Legoland in California and made a perfect trip out of Legos. Some students planned to go to the Phoenix Zoo to see animals, feeding alpacas, watching rhinos and racing with ostriches. Some students planned to go to Utah's largest amusement park, Lagoon Amusement Park. They could enjoy themselves on a roller coaster, have fun on a carousel and feel the wind on a spinning chair... At the end of the trip, the students did not forget to plan to buy some souvenirs to remember the first road trip they planned.
The sunshine in autumn is warm and comfortable; The breeze is cool and gentle; The blue sky and white clouds are elegant; And the campus is golden. Beautiful autumn contains the charm of harvest. The golden leaves scatter all over the campus adding a bright colour to the beauty of autumn, and add a sparkling colour to the students' math journey.
