Harvest and Growth -- Professional Development Day for Primary and Middle School Teachers

Autumn is coming with a cloudless blue sky in October. The first Professional Development Day for SHSID middle primary school teachers was officially held on October 14th in Theater of Zhongxing Building.

Harvest——Completion Ceremony of New Teacher Mentoring Program

The ceremony officially started at 9:00 a.m. Mr. Ni Minxue, director of MPTC, acted as the host of the ceremony. Nine teachers who started their careers two years ago, and two "newcomers" who have been working for only one year, have successfully completed their first stage of growth and become a qualified teacher in the International Division, after experiencing rigorous training under the guidance of their supervising teachers and the help of their team colleagues.

After the review of the training time in the past two years, our new teachers stepped onto the stage with warm applause and cheers. Mr. Liu Lian, middle and primary school principal, and Ms. Liu Fang, middle and primary school vice principal, presented them with certificates and congratulatory flowers. Later, the new teachers also presented the flowers, which symbolized their sincere gratitude, to their "mentors" who had provided them with selfless help.

Ms. Sheng Min, Mr. Guo Lei, and Ms. Wang Yun, as representatives of new teachers, respectively presented the speech and reviewed their two years of training with their mentors. While reviewing their gains, the new teachers expressed their heartfelt thanks to MPTC, supervising teachers, as well as colleagues for their generous help and support.

Principal Liu Lian delivered a speech in the end. In his speech, principal Liu put forward new expectations for the future development of our new teachers around “morality cultivation” and “the science and art of”. He further encouraged every teacher to cultivate better students with the attitude and mentality of “lifelong learners”.

Growth——Mental Health Support Programs & Teaching Department Activities

The second part of PD day was the special training on the topic of school-based psychological curriculum. At the beginning, Ms. Yan Zeng, vice director of school affairs center in SHSID primary and middle school, gave a brief introduction to the psychological support group and their daily work. Then, Ms. Sun Fanfan and Ms. Yu Shuqian from the group, gave presentations respectively from the perspectives of students, schools, and parents, focusing on the theme of “Psychological Support for Independent Learners -- Growth Mindset". The purpose of this training is to encourage our teachers to use psychological theory to better guide and their teaching practice, to prevent and alleviate students’ psychological problems based on the existing experience, and to promote students’ physical and mental health.

Later, the teachers were divided into different groups according to their teaching department, and discussed the problems encountered in the teaching process during the past month. Through the discussion and the sharing of individual cases, teachers launched brainstorming for the next stage of teaching.

The "New Teacher" and "New Project" reflect that all the teachers of SHSID primary and middle school are aiming at the new goals and requirements of the school development, embracing the new development opportunities of the era and educational development, and devoted to working together to create new glories!
