Puxi Campus Grade4-5: Have Fun in Sports
On the morning of October 10, G4-5 students at SHSID Puxi campus walked into the indoor stadium with great enthusiasm and vigor, welcoming the fantastic sports carnival. Ms. Zhang Zehong, SHS party secretary and vice principal, Mr. Liu Lian, SHSID middle and primary school principal, Ms. Liu Fang, middle and primary school vice principal, Ms. Miao Xiaoling, middle and primary school principal assistant, Mr. Shen Tianyuan, middle and primary school principal assistant and director of grades 6-8, Ms. Luo Hua, director of school affairs center, Ms. Zhu Dan, director of Puxi Campus grades 4-5, as well as Cong Xuedi, current Chinese National Teenage Basketball coach, former Chinese basketball national team member attended the carnival, who cheered and supported our athletes!
T.T. from 5(2), the student athletes’ representative, delivered a speech at the beginning of the opening ceremony. He shared his experience in sports and how he earned a strong body and perseverance from sports. Afterwards, Ms. Zhu Dan encouraged students to enjoy the process, work with each other and show their sportsmanship and positive attitude in her speech. She also invited all the students to express their gratitude to all the teachers, staff, parent volunteers, and students who helped organize this carnival.
Former Chinese basketball national team member Cong Xuedi shared her experiences in basketball with our students and encouraged them to show their talents in the carnival and enjoy the process!
After that, grades 4 and 5 students shouted out their grade sports chant! From the sonorous and powerful sound, students presented their great spirit and enthusiasm. With the theme music of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, our students had a warm-up dance, getting ready for the competitions in the morning.
Mr. Liu Lian, SHSID middle and primary school principal, lit students’ enthusiasm and passion with a short but powerful calling. After the crackers, our young athletes applauded and cheered for the opening of the sports carnival!
The first competition was Hula Hoop Relay, the traditional game of sports carnival. All the 4th and 5th grade teachers also formed a team in one line, competing with students from 16 classes. The audience could also witness the live situation through the big screen in the stadium, which made the activity more exciting.
We held another special session for the sports carnival at Shanghai High School ice rink. Some students from SHSID demonstrated their ice-skating learning outcomes with amazing performances on ice. After some practices, students have already mastered certain advanced movements and change of array, including C glide, double outer edge spin, Axel jump, etc. With their beautiful dances, students manifested their passion for ice sports, impressing every audience member present.
In the indoor stadium, students took part in plenty of teamwork activities with their classmates, such as The Hare and the Tortoise and Obstacle Relay. There was also a variety of competitions that required collaboration among students, including Roller-Coaster Relay, Ice Cream Toss and Ball Control Relay, which required focused attention as well as students’ teamwork abilities.
From the various sports games, our students gained happiness and confidence, improved teamwork abilities and developed a sense of group honor. Let’s look forward to the following sports week activities and enjoy the fun together!
