Grade 7: 24 Points Competition
Math is a major subject that we all know of, that contains knowledge of the basic calculations and equations which help us in the function of daily life. However, it may not be the number one subject for all so this is why the competition of 24 points was held to make students engage in the fun of learning math. (24 points is a game where opponents use 4 given numbers and the 4 basic operations to make an equation that equals to 24.).
In week five's YD class, a fierce competition of four rounds was created to find the final winner of the class. Through a random selection, groups of 4 were put into the first level. Then the top 2 moved on and it repeated. "I've never felt so interested when solving math problems, I felt like I actually liked math." This is a quote from one of the fellow students in class 7(1). As she described, it felt like math is more than scores and dull solutions, it could be a game with your friends and a way to discover your talent in this subject.
Nerveless, there could possibly be more to the reasons behind this epic activity. There is more fun to explore in the subject of mathematics.
